In traditional Chinese medicine the human body has many energy channels (meridians) running along it that nourish tissues.  Any disruption to these meridians causes the flow of energy (qi, pronounce chee) to stop and physical or emotional problems arise.  Along these channels are specific acupuncture points, which, when stimulated by the insertion of needles, aid in correcting and balancing the flow of Qi (chee) throughout the body.

An effective tool, acupuncture has been used for centuries to treat a whole host of ailments and conditions including, gynaecological, musculo-skeletal, dermatological and internal conditions.

Acupuncture is safe method of treatment used on almost all patients to assist in the healing process. Most patients after having received acupuncture will note that they felt much calmer after the treatment, especially in cases of insomnia and anxiety.

Moxibustion is a technique used in Chinese Medicine which involves the burning of a herb (Ai Ye, Artemisia argyi, Mugwort) on specific acupuncture points which helps to maintain and restore balance within the body.

Like moxibustion and acupuncture, cupping and gua sha are applied to specific acupuncture points or wherever there may be pain. The cup is put on the acupuncture point which then works to clear toxins, move stagnation to aid in the reduction of pain, swelling or inflammation or to aid in the smooth flow of Qi in the body where it has become obstructed.
